Here graduate trainee Henry Shephard outlines some of the reasons why RAP is an exciting place to work.
1. Be at the forefront of innovation in design and production
I joined RAP in December 2013, and I am already managing my own accounts. With year-on-year growth at over double the industry rate, this is an exciting time to be working at RAP.
RAP combines technical, creative and commercial expertise to design and manufacture revolutionary food packaging. We help our customers sell more by creating inspiring and exciting new food packaging products.

2. Receive support in your training and become part of a great team
I graduated from Leicester University with a degree in Film and Visual Arts in 2012. I briefly worked at a recruitment agency before being headhunted to join RAP as a graduate trainee.
I came in for an interview with Graham Williams, the CEO, and loved it straightaway. I was impressed by the innovative products and the level of investment they offered in my career. I was delighted to be offered the job on the spot, and immediately accepted.
Graduate trainees receive comprehensive training across all departments before getting into their particular role. I was immediately struck by the team’s friendliness, and the supportive atmosphere in the organisation. I came in wearing a tie on my first day: never again!
I’ve been particularly inspired by Graham’s passion for the business, and impressed with the way in which he is always available to everyone.
Graham is enthusiastic about graduates’ development, and recruiting graduates soon after university is part of a wider RAP strategy to identify and invest in talented individuals. This is key to promoting organic growth. He strongly believes this policy gives RAP the advantage of being able to train young talent and shape it to the business.
3. Have your talent recognised through promotions and be given new responsibility
Since starting, I have travelled with our Sales Director Martin Beaver to Switzerland, Sweden and Germany to explore new business opportunities. This trip resulted in a number of large new orders. At first, my role involved supporting other account managers, but, following the success of this trip, I have been allocated my own accounts.
I am one of a number of employees who have progressed quickly through the organisation. Our current Systems and Planning Manager, Dafydd Jones, also started out as a graduate trainee and Callum Barnes and Fuat Huseen, both Assistant Management Accountants, are one year in.
4. Work with leading companies such as McDonald’s, Tesco and Starbucks
What am I most proud of since joining RAP? After three months I was working on two large accounts: Tesco and Ginsters. It is very rewarding that they have put their faith in me so quickly.
