RAP boosts sustainability credentials with move to new low carbon HQ

Our new work space maximises energy efficiency and minimises emissions

Built in the 1960s, Mansel Court has been transformed into a highly efficient workspace by the Low Carbon Workplace.

The organisation – a partnership between the Carbon Trust, property developers Stanhope and asset manager Columbia Threadneedle Investments – is committed to setting high standards for sustainable offices in the UK. In fact, Mansel Court is one of only eight low carbon workplaces in the UK.

The new building has been upgraded to an Energy Performance Certificate ‘B’ and a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ Rating. As a result, it’s expected to be at least 50% more energy efficient than our old headquarters.

We’re now signatories of the Low Carbon Workplace Charter

Working with the support of the Carbon Trust, our aim is to operate as efficiently and sustainably as possible, in line with the Low Carbon Workplace Standard. As a result, we’ll be regularly monitoring our performance using smart energy sub-meters and occupancy sensors.

Graham Williams, CEO at RAP commented: “RAP is a market leader in the design and production of sustainable food packaging, and we focus on improving environmental responsibility throughout the supply chain. Our move to Mansel Court is therefore a very natural fit for us, in line with our company ethos.”

Bruno Gardner, Managing Director of Low Carbon Workplace at the Carbon Trust is also positive about the move: “As a business that is clearly motivated to reduce its energy use and carbon emissions, we are really pleased to have RAP as a tenant in our building. Working towards the Low Carbon Workplace Standard will allow RAP to continuously benchmark and improve its performance, enabling the company to minimise electricity and heating costs, at the same time as demonstrating its environmental responsibility.”
