Another win for RAP – MA RapTray is awarded BSA Technical Excellence at The Sammies

The Modified Atmosphere Carton RapTray has been crowned winner of the BSA Technical Excellence Award at the Sammies Awards 2018.

The awards were set up by The British Sandwich & Food To Go Association to celebrate the best of the sandwich and food to go industry, with the winners announced at a ceremony taking place in Nine Kings Suite at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel on 10 May 2018.

Tackling waste reduction and minimising environmental impact

The RapTray uses Modified Atmosphere technology which means, for the first time, products can be hermetically sealed to maximise freshness while also making a positive step towards caring for the environment and helping businesses tackle waste reduction.

Other features of the packaging include:

  • It reduces plastic use by 85%.
  • It’s 10% lighter than any other packs on the market.
  • Products stay fresher for longer.

Graham Williams, CEO at RAP, said: “With its push to encourage more positive product development, The Sammies shares RAP’s vision for packaging that actively impacts on our industry in a positive way.”

“The MA RapTray is part of our Removing Avoidable Plastics movement and offers an alternative to similar products that still largely consist of plastic. The product has adapted to meet market needs by reducing plastic by 85% and by improving product shelf-life, quality and sustainability.

“I’d like to thank The British Sandwich & Food To Go Association for this recognition of the work carried out by our technologists to advance systems across the sandwich industry. We are looking forward to further developing our groundbreaking products to continue exceeding expectations and improving environmental standards.”
