Rapid Action Packaging (RAP) has launched a new sustainable, single-use face mask that is biodegradable and safely disposable.
Utilising the latest technology, the eco-friendly RAP™ Barrier Face Mask is made from sustainable FSC* board. Significantly, by separating the elastic band (worn over the ears), the mask can be disposed of without danger to the environment as, unlike many other masks, it will break down in the waste.
The RAP™ Barrier Face Mask is available in both adult and children’s sizes and has been designed to protect users and others from airborne diseases transferred by droplets through coughs and sneezes. It is suitable for a range of uses, from healthcare settings to personal protection, when in the workplace, when using public transport or simply out and about.
The design utilises RAP’s market leading technology, which is normally used to produce high grade protective and hygienic food packaging for customers including Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Morrisons, ASDA, M&S, Pret A Manger and LEON.
The Face Mask is available to purchase in packs of 50+ direct from RAP’s online shop: www.rapfacemask.co.uk. The price per mask starts from just 32p, if more than 100+ masks are purchased, making it an extremely cost-effective solution.
Commenting on the launch, RAP’s CEO, Graham Williams said:
“Many single-use masks are typically made from polypropylene, a fossil fuel-derived plastic that can take hundreds of years to break down. In contrast, The RAP™ Barrier Face Mask, has been sustainably designed, enabling people to make a more informed and environmentally friendly choice. Also, unlike many face masks on the market, we’ve been able to take advantage of our existing manufacturing facilities and technical design expertise to provide a low-cost solution, not just for our corporate clients, but also for small businesses and individuals too.”
The news follows the earlier launch of the RAP Face Shield, a lightweight, disposable and unique PPE solution, which conforms with Category 1 PPE EU Regulation 2016:425.
All of RAP’s products are manufactured in the EU at RAP’s state-of-the-art facilities in Éire, which are BRC AA accredited to QA standards governed by ISO 9001:2019 and EN 2023/2006 manufacturing practice. All employees adhere to stringent health and safety guidelines and a strict social distancing policy is in place.
